How to pick a tiptoper

4 min read

Return first, not the percentage. A positive return means someone betting on those tips at the recorded odds would have come out ahead. A high win rate does not say that, and often says the opposite — because you can reach it by recommending nothing but favourites that pay little.

Then the sample. A return of +50% over 4 tips is not data. Below 5 settled tips we show no percentage at all, and below 5 there is no leaderboard entry — but even above the threshold, the difference between 12 tips and 120 is enormous.

Then the average odds. They are the context that makes the percentage readable. 42% at odds of 3.10 and 85% at 1.15 are roughly the same in profit terms — but the first looks twice as bad.

The streak, for the trend. The last five results do not replace the average, but they show what it hides: a tiptoper who was excellent and has not landed anything for six months looks identical to a consistent one, if you only read the overall number.

And finally — the reasoning. Every tip carries a short explanation of why. After a few tips from the same person you can see whether they are actually analysing something or writing the same generic sentence each time. It is the only item on this list that is not a number, and it is usually the most revealing.

One last tip: you can start without paying. Every new tiptoper has free tips, fully open — the pick, the reasoning and the odds. That is the way to see how someone thinks before spending anything on them.

See it in practice

Every number in these guides is visible on every tiptoper on the site, before you pay for anything.
